For this learning activity students will be working in a group to edit a short essay. The students will be using Zoho to help them collaborate while editing. The students will be broken up into groups and each group with be directed to Zoho where they will find a short document that needs to be edited. Each group will be given a different portion of a larger document to edit. The students will work collaboratively to correct their document. The students will be responsible for allowing each group member ample time and opportunity to make corrections and revisions to the document.
Rationale for Tool(s) use: I chose to use Zoho for this activity because it allows students to work together on the same document while seeing revisions that other group members created. Students will need to work collaboratively to get this assignment completed. Zoho allows the students to immediately see changes made in the document but also allows students to see the history of the document. This activity will force students to use not only their knowledge of technology, but also addresses various language arts standards.
Evaluation:
The students would be evaluated based on the appropriateness of their corrections and their ability to collaborate with others. In order to see if students really understood the editing process, students will be asked to edit their scripts for their cartoons using Zoho. Students will be asked to once again collaborate with their groups of 2-3 students.
Zoho will be evaluated based on the success that students have using the program. Students should easily be able to access the shared document. They should also be able to edit the document easily while others are editing the document.
